Sogol Arjestan

Sogol Arjestan uses thread as a tool of memory. Working from family archives, she sets the slow gesture of embroidery against the immediacy of photography, exploring what remains, fades or changes in our recollections.

Based in Paris, the former textile and fashion designer works with natural materials and organic dyes. Persian miniature painting, gardens and ecofeminism inform a practice in which private experience takes on delicate, botanical forms.
